School Opening Date for the 2026 Academic Session

The school session for the 2026 academic session will begin on the following dates as announced by the Ministry of Education:

• Group A: January 11, 2026 (Schools in the states: Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu)
• Group B: 12 January 2026 (Schools in the states: Melaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya)

School Calendar & Holiday Dates for the 2026 School Session

The following is the school calendar for the 2026 school session announced by the Ministry of Education.

Group A

Group A This consists of schools in the states of Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Academic Calendar for the Year 2026

• Start date of the 2026 school session: – January 11, 2026
• Term 1 Holidays: – 20 March 2026 – 28 March 2026
• Mid-Year Break: – 22 May 2026 – 06 June 2026
• Term 2 Holidays: – 28 August 2026 – 05 September 2026
• Final holiday of the 2026 school session: – 04 December 2026 – 31 December 2026

Group B

Group B This consists of schools in the states of: Melaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya.

Festive Holidays for Session 2026

The following are the festive holidays for the 2026 school session announced by the MOE via the Academic Calendar on the official MOE portal.

• Chinese New Year Celebration – 17 and 18 February 2026 (Three Days of Additional Ministry of Education Holidays for Group A and Group B)
• Eid al-Fitr Celebration – 21 and 22 March 2026 (During Term 1 Holiday, Year 2026) & (One Day of Additional Ministry Holiday for Group A and Two Days of Additional Ministry Holiday for Group B)
• Festival of Intensity (Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan only) – 30 and 31 May 2026 (During Mid-Year Break 2026)
• Dayak Gawai Day Celebration (Sarawak only) – 1 and 2 June 2026 (During Mid-Year Break 2026)
• Deepavali Day Celebration – 8 November 2026 (One Day Additional Ministry of Education Holiday for Group A and Group B)
• Christmas Day Celebration – 25 December 2026 (During the 2026 End of School Holidays)
