School Holidays in Conjunction with Sarawak Day Public Holiday 2026

All students in Malaysia will enjoy the Sarawak Day 2026 holiday based on their school group in 2026. These dates will help students, parents, and even teachers plan their celebrations and travel arrangements effectively.

Group A

(Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu)

  • 22 July 2026 (Wednesday) – Regular school day on that day. No additional holidays.

Group B

(Mellaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya)

  • 22 July 2026 (Wednesday) – School holiday in Sarawak only. Normal school day for other states on that day. No additional holiday. 

If you plan ahead, keep in mind that the school will follow the government's public holiday schedule without additional holidays.

Sarawak Day Celebration in Malaysia

Sarawak Day has its roots in 22 July 1963, when the retiring British governor transferred administrative powers to Sarawak's first local Chief Minister, Stephen Kalong Ningkan, shortly before the formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963.
