School Holidays in Conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah's Birthday Public Holiday 2025

All students in Malaysia will enjoy the Sultan of Kedah Birthday holiday 2025 based on their school group in 2025. These dates will help students, parents and even teachers plan their celebrations and travel arrangements effectively.

Group A

(Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu)

• 22 June 2025 (Sunday) – School holiday in Kedah only. Normal school day for other states on that day. No additional holiday

Group B

(Mellaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya)

• 22 June 2025 (Sunday) – Normal school holiday on that day in all states. No additional holidays.

If you plan ahead, keep in mind that the school will follow the government's public holiday schedule without additional holidays.

Sultan of Kedah's Birthday Celebration in Malaysia

The Sultan of Kedah's Birthday is a state public holiday celebrated every year in the state of Kedah.

The Sultan of Kedah's Birthday commemorates the official birthday of His Majesty Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah. He is the 29th Sultan of Kedah. The Sultan of Kedah's Birthday is a time of pride in heritage and celebration for the people of Kedah.

On 12 September 2017, Sultan Sallehuddin was proclaimed as the 29th Sultan of Kedah. The proclamation was made in accordance with Article 17 of the Kedah Constitution following the death of his elder brother, the late Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at Istana Anak Bukit on 11 September 2017.

The announcement of the new Sultan of Kedah was made by the Honorable Menteri Besar of Kedah, Dato' Seri DiRaja Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah at the Balairung Seri, Istana Anak Bukit. The decision to appoint him as the new Sultan of Kedah was made by the Kedah State King Appointment Meeting.

Sultan Sallehuddin was born on April 30, 1942 in Alor Setar, Kedah.

Known for his progressive vision and outspoken leadership, Sultan Sallehuddin played a significant role in modernizing Kedah while upholding its deep-rooted royal traditions.
