School Holidays in Conjunction with the Public Holiday for the Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak 2025

All students in Malaysia will enjoy the Sarawak Governor's Birthday 2025 holiday based on their school group in 2025. These dates will help students, parents and even teachers plan their celebrations and travel arrangements effectively.

Group A

(Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu)

11 October 2025 (Saturday) – Normal school holiday on that day. No additional holidays.

Group B

(Mellaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya)

11 October 2025 (Saturday) – Normal school holiday in all states. No additional holidays.

If you plan ahead, keep in mind that the school will follow the government's public holiday schedule without additional holidays.

The Ministry of Education has not announced any special/additional arrangements for the 2025 Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Birthday celebration. You can check the official MOE portal for any latest information on the academic calendar as the celebration date approaches.

Sarawak Governor's Birthday Celebration in Malaysia

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak is the supreme head of government for the entire state of Sarawak. He is appointed by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after receiving advice from the Premier of Sarawak. The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak can also be known as the Governor of Sarawak. The term of office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak is four years, and can still be extended up to a maximum of six years.

The official residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak is located in Astana, on the northern bank of the Sarawak River, Kuching.

Every year on the second Saturday of October, Sarawak celebrates the Birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, celebrating the official birthday of its ceremonial head, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Sarawak does not have a hereditary king, instead, it is led by a federally appointed governor known as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Governor of Sarawak the latest is – Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar. He was appointed as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak on 26 January 2024
