All students in Malaysia will enjoy the Hari Hol Almarhum Sultan Iskandar 2025 holiday based on their school group in 2025. These dates will help students, parents and even teachers plan their celebrations and travel arrangements effectively.

Group A

(Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu)

• 31 July 2025 (Thursday) – Regular school day on that day. No additional holidays.

Group B

(Mellaka, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur, WP Labuan and WP Putrajaya)

• 31 July 2025 (Thursday) – School holiday in Johor only. Normal school day for other states on that day. No additional holidays.

If you plan ahead, keep in mind that the school will follow the government's public holiday schedule without additional holidays.

The Late Sultan Iskandar's Holi Day 2025

The tradition of “Hari Hol” began in 1896, when Sultan Abu Bakar passed away—establishing a practice of honoring the passing of past sultans. It continued for over a century.

Holi is a day to pray and ask for forgiveness for the sins of former sultans, as well as to remember their merits.

A major ceremony took place at the Royal Tombs. The reigning Sultan placed flowers and poured perfumed water on the Sultan's grave. Senior government officials—including district officials, members of the legislature, and religious authorities—took part in the ceremony.

It maintains the honor of commemorating royal contributions to the welfare and identity of the nation.
